FMI director Susan Gasser receives highly esteemed Inserm International Prize
Dec 2011. Susan Gasser, director of the Friedrich Miescher Institute for Biomedical Research of the Novartis Research Foundation, receives today the highly esteemed Inserm Prix International in Paris, for her outstanding scientific contributions to the field of epigenetics. She is honored for her lifetime achievements, which contribute to our understanding of the genetic processes that drive cancer, cell type differentiation and aging. Since 2004, the Inserm Prix International has been awarded by the Institut National de la Santé et de la Recherche Médical in Paris.

Open Position: IT Technician, Basel
Nov 2011. As part of InfectX and in collaboration with SyBIT, both funded by SystemsX.ch, the Dehio group at the Biozentrum, Basel, is looking for an IT technician to provide data and IT maintenance support, to operate data processing tools, and to support microscope based data generation. The position is integrated within, and should support, a group of Image Analysis and Data Processing experts. You will be working as part of a multi-disciplinary team which is part of the InfectX consortium made up of 11 research groups. This position is initially for one year, with the possibility of extension depending on project requirements.
