Due to the popularity of past SystemsX.ch retreats and workshops, we have decided to organize one more retreat before the initiative concludes at the end of this year. The focus for this year is the development of key skills to enhance your career, including CV writing and interview training. The retreat will also give participants a chance to interact with representatives from a wide range of scientific careers, including academia, industry, start-ups, communication and education. The retreat will be run in partnership with hfp consulting and take place at the Romantik Hotel Hornberg in Gstaad in the Bernese Oberland, from May 29 – June 1, 2018.

The new LS2 Systems Biology Section will facilitate the continued collaboration and interaction in Swiss systems biology research in the wake of SystemsX.ch. The annual section meetings will serve to intensify knowledge transfer and networking in the interdisciplinary community. All members of the SystemsX.ch community are encouraged to join the new section.

The 2017 autumn school was once again jointly organized by SystemsX.ch and the SIB Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics. The week-long practical course on machine learning took place in November at the Hotel and Bildungszentrum Matt near Lucerne. The programme involved a mix of theoretical input, lectures by experts in the field, hands-on coding and participant presentations.
