Register now for the SystemsX.ch Retreat

Due to the popularity of past SystemsX.ch retreats and workshops, we have decided to organize one more retreat before the initiative concludes at the end of this year. The focus for this year is the development of key skills to enhance your career, including CV writing and interview training. The retreat will also give participants a chance to interact with representatives from a wide range of scientific careers, including academia, industry, start-ups, communication and education. The retreat will be run in partnership with hfp consulting and take place at the Romantik Hotel Hornberg in Gstaad in the Bernese Oberland, from May 29 – June 1, 2018.

SBHD 2018: travel grants and free registration

SystemsX.ch is sponsoring the International Conference on Systems Biology of Human Diseases (SBHD) 2018, which will take place at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), from June 4-6, 2018. We are offering free registration to 15 participants as well as 10 travel grants, each up to CHF 1500, for students and postdocs of the SystemsX.ch network. If you are interested, send an email to eavan.dorcey(at)systemsx.ch by February 28. The free registrations and travel grants will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.

Reminder: New LS2 Systems Biology Section

The new LS2 Systems Biology Section will facilitate the continued collaboration and interaction in Swiss systems biology research in the wake of SystemsX.ch. The annual section meetings will serve to intensify knowledge transfer and networking in the interdisciplinary community. All members of the SystemsX.ch community are encouraged to join the new section.

A look back at the Autumn School 2017

The 2017 autumn school was once again jointly organized by SystemsX.ch and the SIB Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics. The week-long practical course on machine learning took place in November at the Hotel and Bildungszentrum Matt near Lucerne. The programme involved a mix of theoretical input, lectures by experts in the field, hands-on coding and participant presentations.
