One of SystemsX.ch top priorities is to ensure that top Systems Biologists are educated at our partner institutions. One way to promote the education and exchange of information of this new class of biology students is to bring them together, and to create a community. The SystemsX.ch PhD student retreat serves to connect students with their peers and allow them to meet with internationally recognized scientists in the field.
The retreats should also allow students to interact with students with similar Systems Biology interests or problems; and may even foster new ideas or projects. SystemsX.ch wants to bring together the Systems Biology community starting at the graduate level in order to promote the importance of this topic to our partner institutions, industry, and the federal government. In essence students are part of a very important shift in the way biologists are trained. It is our aim that Systems Biology becomes a well integrated part of the classical biological sciences and that students can be trained from the undergraduate level in future.
