The SFA Personalized Health and Related Technologies (PHRT) has published its first call. Proposals for interdisciplinary PhD projects, Transition Postdoc Fellowships, Technology Translation Projects and Personalized Medicine/Personalized Health Research Projects can be submitted until September 15, 2017.

Gene Transfer Keeps Bacteria Fit
Researchers at the University of Basel’s Biozentrum have discovered that Bartonella bacteria exchange genes efficiently using a domesticated virus encoded in their genome. The gene transfer between pathogens prevents the accumulation of genetic defects, promotes the spread of beneficial gene mutations and thus keeps the bacteria fit (Image: University of Basel, Biozentrum). SPHN Information Session
