SystemsX.ch Summer Course in Computational Biology
Dear SystemsX.ch community,
I would like to draw your attention to our annual summer school in computational biology. In 2010, this course will be held as a SystemsX.ch summer course with emphasis on practical implementation and training of methods for modeling and simulating biological systems in space and time. The course is targeted at Master students, PhD students, and postdocs with little background in modeling and simulation, and minimal experience in computer use (basic Matlab skills) and basic mathematics.
Event: SystemsX.ch Summer Course in Computational Biology
Date: August 17-24, 2010
Location: Mediterranean Institute for Life Sciences (MedILS), Split, Croatia
Application deadline: June 1, 2010
Maximum number of participants: 25 participants
(20 full fellowships are available, covering the full registration fee plus travel costs)
Please find the call for participation attached.
More information, as well as the on-line application system, can be found at:

To read more about the MedILS, please read Life Article.
The course will be held at the Mediterranean Institute for Life Sciences (MedILS: www.medils.org) on the coast of the Adriatic sea, located in the UNESCO-protected ancient city of Split, Croatia. MedILS, sometimes dubbed "the Warm Spring Harbor Laboratory", is aiming to follow the paradigm of its famous American role model by combining research with vigorous workshop activities. As such, it provides superb lecture, housing, and lodging facilities at a reasonable cost. Warm, informal atmosphere coupled with the presence of active research labs provides an ideal venue for a workshop of this scope.
Please help bringing together an exciting crowd and forward this call to interested people in your group and your personal network. The enthusiastic feedback from last year's participants (over 80% top marks in the final course evaluation) convinced me to offer this course also in 2010.
Thanks a lot - I look forward to seeing many of you at MedILS this summer!
